Worship

In 2004 God placed the vision of establishing an evangelistic church in Harker Heights, Texas. That vision lay dormant until December 2,2006 at 6:00 p.m. when a group of twelve people met in Salado, Texas to pray, fellowship, and seek God's approval for a new fellowship. The unity, diversity, and bonding of that group of people made it evident God was at work in establishing this new fellowship.

Who are we? We are a group of individuals who have become related when we place our faith in the amazing grace of Jesus Christ as He paid for our sins by dying on the cross and being resurrected three days later. None of us claim perfection, but are pilgrims in our journey through this life, working through our faults, flaws, and failures. We welcome with open arms any person who is willing to acknowledge their failure and look to Jesus Christ for their salvation. We welcome anyone who wants to join us in this vision. Each member can be assured of our prayers, our support, and our commitment to each individual as they seek to follow the leadership of Jesus Christ.

It would be a fellowship based on building relationships over rituals and emphasizing people over programs. The goal is to share the Gospel with those who are seeking meaning in their life; provide biblical teaching which would aid in establishing and maintaining holy lives; and providing encouragement and a new start for all who may experience failure in their journey of life.

The vision would entail a journey that would begin with no building and no fixtures. It was at this meeting a place was provided for us to hold our first services. It was to be in a metal building owned by Marcus Chapman. That building would be added on to and upon completion we would hold our first service sometime after the start of 2007. Kakie Shea volunteered to provide one hundred chairs for our first service. Thus the first steps of our journey began. The next step would be buying property in Harker Heights and eventually moving our worship center to a permanent location. For that step God placed a realtor, Richard Overall in the body to help us in that pursuit. We dismissed with the challenge of reading the book of Acts and seek what the first century church did in order to change their world for the cause of Christ.

On December 16, 2006, we met again to pray, read Scripture, fellowship, and discuss the progress that was being made. A list of needs was presented to those in attendance. Each shared what they desired from the fellowship and what was essential to make people welcome and desirous to be a part of God's work at Amazing Grace Fellowship.

After several meetings for prayer, planning, and fellowship, a meeting was held on February 17, 2007 at the location of our church. It was at this meeting we decided March 11,2007, would be God's timing for our first worship service.

We are aware there will be many steps on that journey to our Promised Land, but through prayer, faith, diligence, and sacrifice, what now is only a vision will eventually become a reality. The Bible reminds us that God uses, "the foolish things to confound the wise, and God has chosen the weak. .. to confound the things which are mighty." (I Corinthians 1 :27) Again we are reminded by Paul, "My strength is made perfect in weakness." (II Corinthians 12:9) Through our commitment and Christ's power that which is seemingly impossible will be brought to past by God. Jeremiah made a great statement when talking about God: "There is nothing too hard for You." (Jeremiah 32:17) We are Amazing Grace Fellowship. We believe we are to be always going forward and we claim Philippians 3:13-14 as our guiding verse from God's Word.

As we continued on our Journey from a smaller location to a larger location, God brought us to a location on Veterans Memorial. As our dwelling grew so did our faith. God blessed us with over a hundred total members and a burgeoning faith.

God continued to do more work for our body of members in December 2010. He gave us our current location at 1600 E Rancier. This location is large enough to accomodate the entire fellowship as well as grow our community. We believe that God gave us this location in order to help the people of Northern Killeen.

EPILOGUE

To be a part of the body of Christ is humbling. To understand our responsibility to the local body of Christ helps each of us to realize our calling is more than just placing our name on a roll. It is our prayer that this booklet has been informative as you seek to serve the Lord at Amazing Grace Fellowship. We desire that as a member of this body you find spiritual growth and fulfillment as you use the talents and gifts God has entrusted you with here at Amazing Grace Fellowship.

Together we will see God use us individually and corporately to fulfill His plan for our church.
